Aletsch Arena (UNESCO) – Touch the greatest Glacier of the Alps

On this round trip you can admire the biggest Glaciers in the Alps – the Great Aletsch and enjoy an unbelievable view of the highest peaks of the Alps.

  • Starting point: Bettmeralp
  • End point: Bettmerhorn

  • Ascending altitude: 1081m
  • Descending altitude: 385m

The hike starts in Bettmeralp, follow the signs to Fiescheralp and further to Salzgäb. You will soon have a beautiful view of the Fiescher Glacier, the third biggest Glacier in the Swiss Alps, before you pass through a tunnel. After the tunnel, you will reach the Gletscherstube and then the Märjelen Lakes. Go down to touch the Great Aletsch Glacier. From here you will start the ascent to Bettmerhorn. Enjoy the unbelievable view from the Bettmerhorn Station of the Glacier and take the cable car back down to Bettmeralp.
